More 2004
The annual McFarlane regatta saw the debut of a new Anuenue Bradley canoe. Named the Anona, the white and green canoe celebrated the occasion by crossing the line three times as a winner in the Boys 13, Girls 13, and Novice A races.
States 2004 at Keehi Lagoon: Qualifying five crews, Anuenue placed 9th overall in the "A" division. Best finishes were the GM men (4th) and Men's Open Four (5th).
11th World Sprints at Hilo, Hawaii:
Over 1800 paddlers enjoyed nearly perfect Hilo weather for the week long renewal of World Sprints competition. Tahiti dominated once more with 27 gold medals (57 overall) to 9 for runner-up host Hawaii (39). Anuenue paddlers competed in V1, V6 and V12 events with the 60+ crew taking the gold in the Finals.
Distance 2004 and Moloka'i-Oahu:
After preparing in the pre-moloka'i races, two Anuenue crews participated in the Moloka'i Hoe on a sloppy day that saw Lanikai coming home a surprise winner beating out Outrigger, several strong Tahitian and Austrailian crews, and defending champion Team Hawaii/New Zealand steered by Aaron Napoleon
GM men paddle the Anona toward the finish. They went on to cross the line in 6:07:49, second in the division. David Napoleon's open crew finished 28th in 5:46:48
The Year's Not Over Yet!
Above, Anuenue finishes third overall in the Blue Makua prime time paddler's competition. Two weeks later in Kona, OC2 Team Napoleon (Nappy, David X2 & Joey) finished first in the JJ Logan race. Finally in November, Nappy and Anona will travel to Rarotonga where Nappy will steer an open crew from Hawai'i in the first ever series of races in the capitol of the Cook Islands.
