Nappy's 50th
Nappy celebrates #43: This scene has been repeating each subsequent year and now, the time has come for the milestone crossing everyone has been waiting for - that's right, folks, an amazing 50 consecutive Moloka'i races.!!
Aloha to all!!

On October 7th, 2007, Joseph "Nappy" Napoleon will make history by being the first person to complete the Moloka'i Hoe Outrigger Canoe Race 50 consecutive times. Nappy will steer a crew made up of three generations of Napoleons including his five sons and three of his grandsons.

As part of Nappy's 50th crossing milestone, Anuenue Canoe Club is attempting to raise funds to acquire a koa canoe, the foundation of every traditional Hawaiian canoe club. This koa canoe will celebrate Nappy's paddling legacy and ensure the continued success of Anuenue Canoe Club in particular and the larger outrigger canoe paddling community in general.

The club is seeking sponsorship from local and national businesses and organizations, in the form of monetary or service donations, and working with both local and national media to provide publicity of not only Nappy's milestone crossing but also of his many contributions to paddling worldwide.

As part of this historic event, Anuenue Canoe Club will also be conducting several other fundraising efforts including hosting a post-race banquet and selling commemorative shirts. Please check back to this website for updates and information concerning these future events.
